There’s no perfect answer — it really comes down to how you want to use your pool.
But after talking with hundreds of pool owners over the years, one thing we’ve found is that people often think deeper is automatically better… until they live with it.
Deeper pools can feel more impressive and give you more room to swim, but they also come with trade-offs:
- Deeper pools are colder
- They require different water chemistry management
- You can’t comfortably stand in them
- They can be less practical for families and everyday use
For most people, a well-balanced depth ends up being the sweet spot — deep enough to enjoy, but shallow enough to stay warm, usable, and comfortable year-round.
